My Final Projects....

Interview 1 Here is my first interview I interviewed my Grandma Monie, so my dad's mom.I thought what was most interesting was that my Grandpa met her in the most classical usual way. He met her at a dance and asked for a dance again and again.

Interview 2 Here is my second interview on my Grandma and Grandpa Hakke. I thought the must interesting thing was that a sausage stuffer is passed down from generation to generation on my Grandpa Jim's side.

Email to Family Member I wrote the email to my Aunt Diana. My Grandma Monie keep's track on all of our family history, but she doesn't have an email. Because of this I decided to email my Aunt who has been taking care of her for quite a while now. She later emailed back to me saying that she could help me.

Family Echo Tree This is an outline of the family history. It gets pretty complicated and we have a lot of family.

This prezi has someone of my family members, about 15, with information on them. I also put some pictures up to make it more interesting.  The info-graphic I have below has some information on where we came from, what illnesses are in the family, and how long has each side live for the most.

Never give up...

Blog Post of The Day:

Read THIS blog post by a teacher. I mean actually read it. Take it in. Think about it. And then, write about it. What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.

I think this blog post is very inspiring to both teachers and students. Most teachers can relate to this blog post on how much they care about their students.  This is an important quote for students to read to help motivate them to do better. The main event is being able to deal with hardships throughout our lives. Also being able to solve those problems without giving up at any point in time. Another thing is to be able to push away temptations for the persons great or good. The main event is adversity. The teacher is trying to say that most of all the students are quitters in some way and that they need to stop doing that to be able to prepare them for a good life. I like this blog post very much because it gets me motivated and helps be start to see the bigger aspect of school.

Stop-motion animation 2...

Blog Post of the Day:

Blog about your second stop-motion animation.

Taylor F. and I are going to do a stop- motion animation together about two cars racing. We are going to do this project by the commons at BVHS. The camera and some of the props are from my house; the rest of the props are Taylor's. The props are 2 big cars and stuffed animals. We are also using tape to represent the starting line and finishing line.

Reviewing..

GIANT blog post of the day:

Answer the following questions thoroughly on your blog.
  1. What was your stop motion animation about? Why did you choose your video to be about this? Was it because it was easy, because it would be fun, or it would be challenging? Explain your reasoning behind your project (and be honest).
  2. If you could rate your stop motion on a 1-10 scale. 1 being low effort and no very good and 10 being out of this world/mindblowing, how would you rate your project? Explain why.
  3. In hindsight, what would you do differently the second time around? Better lighting? Time management? Explain yourself.
  4. Explain what makes your stop motion animation unique. How do you believe you thought "outside of the box" on this project?
  5. What grade do you feel you deserve on this project? Explain your reasoning.

(1) My stop-motion animation was about Cowboy Eeyore and his horse going on an adventure to his friend's house. On the way there he picked up some of his other friends and gave them a ride to where ever they needed to go. For this video I used stuffed animals and my toy horse I used to ride when I was little. I got this video idea when i was in the basement and  saw my old horse, that is also why I used the stuffed animals. I thought this video would be challenging for me but fun to do.
(2) I would rate my video at an 8 or 9  because I think the video that made is interesting. I worked extremely hard on this video and it took me 3 days to do it. The video idea that I  thought of  was cool and  it might have been done before, but with a western twist on it. The only two things I can say bad about the video was that the lighting changed a bit and the camera moved around badly at one point in the video.
(3) The only thing I would do differently would be to get a tripod to make the video better.  By having one it would have made things easier for me. I hated not having one it was difficult trying to take a picture exactly the same ( angle wise) as the other one  I took before. That's part of the reason why I took double photos of everything; which led me to having a million pictures though.
(4) One of things that made my video unique was the horse that I used. Also creating it in to a western theme story was pretty interesting to me.
(5) I feel like I deserve at least an 85- 90 percent on this because I really put my best effort into making this.  I enjoyed doing this project a lot because I am into anything photography related and I  like to try new things.

Prom...

Blog Post of the Day:

3 day weekend... how was it? Give me a good story or something funny that happened this weekend. Go.

This weekend my  happy sister and her friends went to prom. When she got back from prom she said it was a blast, but she didn't when anything though. I swear our family has bad luck rather than good luck. While she was at prom my friend came over and we hanged out.  We talked about some deep-down things that were bothering us while sitting outside by the fire. The next day we met with our other friends and went to see The Longest Ride.  I wasn't expecting the movie to be that good. Monday, at my moms the basement flooded, so  all day we were working on cleaning and drying the basement.  Though it was worth it because now the basement is finally organized.

Stop-motion animation...

Blog Post of the Day:

Tell me ALL about what your idea is for your stop-motion animation. I need detail. Who is going to help you take photos? What props do you need? Where do you plan on shooting? EXPLAIN everything.

My stop- motion animation video is going to be making my great-great grandma's cinnamon-roll recipe. What's going to be making the food is either going to be its self or  doll of some kind. I might for the doll use: another cinnamon roll, random doll, or make a pastry doll made of dough.  I'm going to be using my mom's camera and make the film with natural light. My mom and me are going to be making the video together. I am going to shoot the shoot in the kitchen at my mom's house. My plot is either going to be just making the cinnamon rolls; or i am going to have the cinnamon rolls be eaten with one remaining and that cinnamon roll is going to make some more.

CHANGE OF PLANS:
I was going to do that recipe, but then I called my grandma and she said it would take all day. I knew it wouldn't work out , so i decided to do a different stop- motion animation. My new plan is to get all my stuff animals and my toy ride horse ,when i was little, out. I going to have stations throughout my backyard of animals siting there waiting to be picked up by the horse and the rider. The rider is going to be Eeyore, from Winnie the Pooh, with a purple bandanna around his neck. I am going to  do this on my own and at my mom's in the backyard. Everyday, until it's due, I am going to go to my mom's and take pictures until it gets dark outside.

Easter weekend..

Blog Post  of the Day:

Tell me all about your weekend and please share photos!

Easter weekend was amazing! On Friday we went to my grandma's house in German-town, Illinois.  We never go back  there for Easter so i was thrilled to see how it would go. We go there at 10:00 so i fell asleep right away. Saturday my cousins came over and we hanged out all day. That day was relaxing we watched the basketball games and we talked about how are lives were.  We also got to stop at our other grandma's house. Sunday we had the big eater dinner and then left back for Kansas. Before that though we got eater baskets which were filled with candy. The ride back home was long and tiring , but it was worth it.

April...

 Blog Post of the Day:

What do you love most about this time of year? Explain why you love it.

I love this time of the year because it's spring time and were close to the end of the school year. Mostly in this time of the year everyone is happy because it sunny out and warm.  This day in particular is great because its's Aprils Fool Day. I love pranking my family and friends they're so gullible.  I have gotten away with pranking a few times in the past, but i am not sure what i am going to do this year. I'm thinking about at dinner i am  going to ask my sister how her drink is and then start laughing saying April fools; i want to see her reaction even though i did nothing to her drink. I can' wait i am so excited.

Pictures...

Blog Post of the Day:

Did you complete the photo scavenger hunt? What kind of fun pictures were you able to capture? Did you do all your photos at school or did you do some at home over the weekend? Share one of your favorites.

This weekend was great with the scavenger hunt. I was abler to capture all sorts of pictures. I took pictures of a soda can, my dogs, and in the country where my mom lives. I took so many about 200 pictures. I did all my pictures outside of school this weekend.

Blog Post of the Day:

What do you know about photography and/or photo editing? Do you take photos? How do you take photos? Do you edit photos before posting them on social media? How do you edit them? Explain any background or knowledge you have about photography and photo editing. Do you like it? Do you have any interest?

I love photography! I take so many pictures a day its crazy. I might want to be a photographer when i'm older  as a side job , but i diffidently need more practice first. Next year i will be taking both photography classes that are available at BVHS. My sister in law is a photographer so i will be taught a few things form her too. For my pictures i like to do many different angles and ways of taking a picture. Half of the time i edit the picture, but the others i don't when i think it's already beautiful enough. Most of the pictures i take i post on social media(mainly Instagram).

Spring Break Part 2....

Blog Post of the Day:

Welcome back! Go ahead. Tell me all about your Spring Break. Include photos!

Spring break was so fun and exhausting. We went to Illinois  to go visit my sweet grandma and stayed 2 nights there. Next, we went on a road trip through Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi.  During the time we spent in the states we went: swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, visited the capitals, and visited through popular sites to see. During our vacation though we had an unexpected event happen, a traffic sit-in  10 miles long for 3 hours.  It was so horrible because I had to pee so bad. What had happen was that 3 semis- and 2 other cars bumped into each other which caused  the cars to flip over and then catch on fire. Sadly, there were many deaths with this accident. Once it got cleared up we began our road trip back to home again. The rest of the road trip went smoothly well. When we got back my Dad and I went to the WW1 museum by Union Station. I went there because if I did go i would be able to receive extra credit for my history class.  I actually had a great time and in the end I got to get another snow global for my collection.

This spring break my family and I are going to go on a road trip. It is going to be none stop and so busy for us. First, we are going to go to my grandma's in Illinois for a few days. Then  we are going to go to Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri.  Two of those states were just passing through, but the others were going to stay and go on fun adventures. Hopefully we get to go to The Grand Opry, swim in the Gulf of Mexico, and see all the capitals while were there. I can' t wait it's going to be so exciting.

RELAY FOR LIFE...

Blog Post of the Day:

Tell me about your weekend.

This weekend was exhausting, but it was fun.  On Friday my friends and I did Relay for Life. My sisters team and mine were combined to be called The Beauty and Beasts. Since, my sister was the team captain we  had to go at 5:30.  When we got there it took forever to get in the building and set up our campsite. After that all night we played games, ate food, and walked around the track. The last to hours for me that night were the hardest to stay wake.  Once we could go everyone zoomed out of there. That single second moment of stepping outside and feeling the cold fresh air was the best moment of the night.

Saturday I went to bed when the sun rose and woke up later when the sun set. Then I watched some movies then went back to bed.

Sunday my mom and I went shopping all day together.  It took all day, but it was worth it spending time with my mom just her and I.  W e went to pink, hot topic, anthropology, francescias, Disney store, etc.

Principal...

Blog Post of the Day:

If you were the Principal for a week at BVHS, what would that look like? What changes would you make? Why?

It would be called fun week because we we do so many amazing fun things at school. Throughout the whole week students will dress up from something like spirit week. Monday all the teachers would have to make sure you finished everything school wise for the week. Tuesday  we will be having a field trip to nelson's museum. Then  Wednesday will have a water balloon fight during the whole day. Thursday will go an have a paint ball fight. Friday we will watch movies and play games during class. Also people will get released  right after lunch to go home and enjoy the weekend.  Students at BVHS really need one of these weeks to relax and chill form all the stress we get at school.

10 items...

Blog Post of the Day:

If  you were going to give someone advice on how to make the best presentation in the world what would you tell them. W hat are the 10 pieces of advice?

1) Don't take to long when you are presenting. No one is going to want to pay attention to a long long presentation.
2) Don't be to short on presenting, time wise.If you presentation is too short  more or likely no one is going to understand your topic because you didn't provide enough information.
3) Look at the audience. If you look away it looks unprofessional.
4) Get dressed up really nicely. That way you look professional and it shows that you took time in your day to get dressed up nicely. It makes the audience think that you think this is so important that you had to dressed up.
5) Practice before, so  they think you know what your talking about.
6) Be confident in what your talking about. That way it looks like you know everything and anything about your topic.
7) Talk loud so that everyone can hear you. If no one can hear you they would't be able to understand anything your talking about.
8) Don't stutter because that will make you look very unprofessional.
9) Don't say um-mm in your presentation when there is a pause it makes you sound like a fifth grader. You want to seem older and formal in your presentation.
10) Make sure you ask at the end if anyone has questions. That way you will look professional and that you care about your audience.

Use the internet to find an infographic about infographics. Place it in to your blog post. Read it and then give me the top 5 things you learned from it that will help you make a better infographic.

In the last 2 years making infographics has increased. What is interesting to me is that 20% of people will remember what they read and 80% remember what they see. Also that once your done with your infographic post it everywhere so more people will read it.  On those websites that people will post  their infographic there are 77% businesses-consumer companies that could look at  it . Therefore, you should make sure your infographic is the best it can be.

My weekend...

Blog Post of the Day:

Tell me about your weekend. Give me a story, something funny that happened, an experiencing you had, the way you felt, etc. Include photos!

This weekend  was fun we got to celebrate my  16th birthday at my moms. My birthday is on March 2nd, so these two months have been crazy. Usually i have my birthday party the weekend after my birthday, but this time weekend after my birthday is relay for life. Then the weekend after that is spring break, so I have to do it the weekend before my birthday or this coming weekend; which i hate doing. I am going to be at my dad's this weekend so I had to do the party at my mom's last Saturday. Any way this weekend was a blast. First we ate dinner my choice: crab legs, dirty mashed, shrimp, and spinach. Then we ate cake and mint ice cream. Next i opened my funny cards and gifts. Finally we watched movies , played darts, and pool. It was funny when we played darts because my brother got a bulls-eye.

Sunday i slept all day and then i watched the Oscars for the rest of the night.

Study habits...

Blog Post of the Day:

Tell me what you believe this cartoon is trying to say. Do you agree or disagree with this idea? Try and look at this from two different perspectives. What is your perspective? What would be an adult/teacher's perspective?

This cartoon is saying to me that all countries education systems are great; except USA. The people in the other countries study and our smart, but Americans slack off and our dumb. That as Americans we don't care about education at all. I think its stereotypical and offensive to the USA.  I don't agree with this picture at all. Just because we are Americans doesn't mean were lazy. Sure some people in America might be lazy and don't care, but it doesn't mean that all of us are. All around the world their are people in countries who don't care about education; not just the USA. I think from a teachers perspective this would be very offensive  especially to them.

We had some guests over this weekend so that was fun. Finally, on Sunday i gave my dogs a bath; now that was crazy.  We have to hipper dogs named Dellla and Charlee.

Quote...

Blog Post of the Day:

Think about the quote below. What does this mean to you? How could this apply to your life? How could this apply to your school work?  I would love to give you less work in class if it meant you were going to focus harder on the work. Do you think you would get more out of it? Would that work for you? Why or why not?

The quote means to me that is that take your time on things don't just rush through them. People can apply this to their school work by focusing on their school work or homework better. Yes, i think so that way we don't have to rush through things just to get them done. Will be able to take our time.

My global issue...

Blog Post of the Day:

Tell me about some interesting things you have learned about your global issue so far. What have you learned that you didn't know before? Include a couple images from the internet if possible. (Make sure to cite images that are not your own.)

I have learned that there is no cure for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. but there are many ways to help manage it. I also have learned that they bruise really easily, so most of the time there body is covered with bruises. This illness is very painful for the people who have it. I would say the only thing cool about the disease is that the people who have Ehlers-Danblos Syndrome are double jointed. Finally, I have learned that it gets passed down through genetics.

My friends and i didn't go to sweetheart, so we hanged out instead. We went to Town Center at 6:00 and ate at Panera. After that we were going to go see a movie, but changed our minds. Instead we went shopping even though it was cold and raining. Then,  we went to Walgreens to by pepto because i had a horrible stomach ache all night and i needed to take something for it. Next, Grace's mom picked us up and drove us to ana's house where we spent the night. All night we played video games, ate food, and watch youtube.

Emails...

Blog Post of the Day:

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"? EXPLAIN.

An email is a form of communication through technology. Now a days personally i think people use email more for formal messages rather than informal ones. I don't email my friends to ask them something because why would i do that if i can just quickly text them. People use email with work, asking your teacher a question, and sending your friends important school related stuff.  Email etiquette  is writing an email in the formal, respectful, and proper way.

2 perspectives...

Blog Post of the  Day:

Yesterday I had you choose a global issue and you wrote about it on your blog. Today on your blog I want you to tell me about two different perspectives of your global issue. Are there people for an against your issue? Do people disagree on your issue? Is it a topic that can cause controversy? Look at the issue for two different perspectives. Tell me about those perspectives.

The  people who have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome can't really do anything about it and it really affects their lifestyle. They also pass the disease through genetics so they would have at risk of their kids getting the illness.

The people who don't have it can treat them to help manage their disease , but other wise can't really do anything about it.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome

Blog Post of the Day:

  1. Without doing any research, what background do you currently have on this issue?
  2. What do you want to know about this issue?
  3. Why did you choose this issue? Had it effected your life? Is it something you are passionate about? Explain.
My uncles who were twins both die with this disease. I know that it is really rare and that it affects your skin.

I want to know what info scientist have on this disease. If they can do anything about it once you get it . Also I want to know how many people  don't die of this.

I chose this issue because I never got to meet my uncles, so I feel like if I researcher this i'll be able to know a little bit more about them and what they had to deal with. Maybe if  Jim and John  never had this they would be here today.

Think differently...

Blog Post of the Day:

Last week I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

I think you asked us to do this because you want us to be able to get a point across in different ways. Also I personally think that this way can motivate people to change something better. If people just use bullets and headers it gets really boring. Plus it catches people's attention faster. The first time I saw the example one it caught my eye and I payed attention through the whole PSA.

PSA...

Blog Post of the Day:

What is a public service announcement (PSA)? What do PSA's do? What makes a good PSA? How can you get someone to take action after watching a PSA?  What is you PSA idea? Explain in detail.

A PSA is a presentation in which it warns you things not to do and do. A PSA motivates the reader to take action in which the maker of it want the reader to.  My PSA idea is cyber-bullying. The reason why I did this is because to me it seems like everyone is doing driving while texting. Also personally one of my friend's has experienced this when she was in middle school, so it just kind of caught my eye.

What are you looking forward to this school year? Include some original photos from your phone if you can.

I am Maggie Boeckmann a sophomore at Blue Valley High School. The clubs that I am in are French club and Kay club.  This year outside of school I am looking forward to learning archery. I have been always interested in it and now I'm finally going to get taught. My favorite class this year would have to be Earth-space science with Dr. Shah. the reason why is because we do a lot of cool experiments and his teaching style is great too.

Emerging technology...

Blog Post of the Day:

What are your thoughts on this class so far? Easy? Hard? Informative? Frustrating? What have you learned so far? What do you want to learn? Explain yourself.

I love this class! Sometimes this class is a little tough, but it's worth it.  I have learned so much with emerging technology. I always have  had a G-mail account, but I never really understood all the things on there and how to use them. I'm so excited I took this class! I feel that I will use the stuff that were learning in here my whole life. Honestly, sometimes in here it  can be frustrating and challenging; however, I like to take those kind of classes. I feel like all my hard work is put to good use.

My weekend...

Blog Post of the Day:

Tell me about your weekend. What did you do? Upload a photo to your Google Drive and then insert the photo (or photos!) to your blog post to show me what all you did.

This weekend was a roller coaster ride, but it wasn't too hectic. Friday, I went home early because I was feeling sick. My stomach hurt, I had a cold,  headache, migraine, and was just so exhausted. After, I got home I went up stairs and fell asleep. By the time I  woke up it was dinner time, so I ate some yummy spaghetti. Finally, once I was done eating I went back to bed.

Saturday, I woke up and helped  fix up the house the whole day with my parents. At my mom's we just recently moved into this old fixer-upper house. First, we added insulation in the attic because it was  frezzing up-stairs and I just couldn't stand it anymore. Next, we put a stove heater in the chimney/fireplace  to make the house get more warm.. Sadly, while we were doing that my step-dad hit the mantle above the fireplace and all the 6 glass vases fell on us. All of the stuff shattered on us, but surprisingly we didn't get cut. After that we had to clean up the rest of the day. Once I did my part I took a nap. Finally, I woke up and ate dinner. After this my mom, sister, and I decided to watch all these movies. Overall these movies were great!

( SUNDAY I DID NOTHING.)

Small newspaper clipping...

Blog Post of the Day:

Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I agree with this article because kids shouldn't sit around on their lazy butts and wait for someone to do something for them. Also when people want something to change, then they need to get up and change it. If we all  just wait for someone else do to, it then nothing will change. This article is very motivating for me. It inspires me to get up and try my hardest to change something, while everyone else is waiting for someone to change that problem.
